Modern Apartment Interior Design in Moscow

This modern apartment interior design in Moscow was conceived as a refined refuge for an art collector seeking calm and balance within the vibrant Russian capital. Located near the Pushkin Museum, the residence occupies a full-floor apartment originally delivered as an open shell, without internal partitions.

From the outset, Prima Design approached the project as a dialogue between art, architecture, and daily life. The goal was to transform a large, empty space into a warm and functional home while allowing the client’s art collection to remain central.

Designing a Collector’s Home

The apartment spans approximately 450 square meters and is structured around existing columns and structural constraints. Rather than imposing rigid divisions, the layout flows naturally between living, dining, and private areas. As a result, each space feels connected yet clearly defined.

A custom kitchen, inspired by the elegance of a classic leather travel trunk, anchors the social areas. Bedrooms were carefully planned to ensure privacy and comfort, including a master suite with a built-in sauna and two guest rooms.

Materials, Craftsmanship, and Climate Challenges

Designing a modern apartment interior design in Moscow required careful attention to climate. High winter humidity presented challenges during construction. To address this, Prima Design introduced lime plaster walls, an ancient technique that allows surfaces to breathe while achieving nuanced, textured finishes.

Moreover, all furniture and finishes were sourced from Italy. Despite complex logistics, the use of Italian craftsmanship ensured consistency in quality, detail, and material expression throughout the apartment.

Art, Atmosphere, and Contemporary Living

Artworks by Russian artists Aidan Salakhova and Oleg Dou are integrated seamlessly into the interiors. Iconic furniture pieces by Baxter complement the collection, reinforcing a refined yet relaxed atmosphere.

Ultimately, the project delivers a peaceful urban retreat. It balances art, comfort, and functionality, creating a timeless home that reflects both the client’s lifestyle and Prima Design’s approach to contemporary interior architecture.
